Service Description

DATES TBD Sundays, 11am -2pm 12-weeks STORY CORE is the third installment in our four-part CORE curriculum. Builds on the foundation of Physical CORE and Character CORE. Work on discovering stories by focusing on character objectives/points of view and emotion, finding themes and throughlines, and letting every offer change you and your character. We work on understanding various elements that influnce the story including tone, beats, themes, arcs, and the reincorporation. At Impro, we make a distinction between plot and story: while plot comprises the events within the narrative, story represents the emotional journey undertaken by a protagonist. We believe that the most engaging narrative improvisation arises from discovery rather than invention and that maintaining a strong connection with your ensemble is the key to crafting a gratifying story. Emotion, relationships, strong desires, and the use of the environment, silence and movement all contribute to discovering the story and having a satisfying experience with your scene partners.
