6 SUNDAYS 2pm-5pm Aug 25-Oct 6 (Skips Sep 1st) Culminates in a class show for any students interested in performing. Join us in another dimension! Impro Theatre School presents: Intro to Improvising The Twilight Zone. Discover and improvise characters, relationships, themes and twists typical of the classic tv series. Learn how you can find the portal to another dimension, using the improv skills you already know. Connect with your partner to explore. Understand and put into practice how improvised stories can explore deep themes in the vein of those explored by the genius writers of the original series. 2pm- 5pm Aug 25-Oct 6 (Skips Sep 1st) Culminates in a class show for any students interested in performing. Some improv experience required. Students will be expected to read assigned short stories and watch episodes of the original 1960's tv series outside of class time. Typical homework viewing: 75 minutes per week. Mike Rock has been acting, improvising and teaching professionally for over 35 years. Currently he is Producing Co-Artistic Director, Director of School, Director of Studio, faculty member and a director and producer at Impro Theatre L.A. TV credits include This Is Us, Black-ish, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, After Lately, The Mentalist, Monk, Conan O’Brien, Law & Order, Celebrity Deathmatch, Guiding Light. and two comedy specials he co-created for Comedy Central. He’s been the voice of several TV shows including: NFL Replay, NFL Sound FX, Chelsea Lately on E!, Property Ladder on TLC and Car Kings on Discovery Network. With Impro he has performed completely improvised plays at The Broad Stage, The Pasadena Playhouse, North Coast Rep, The Garry Marshall Theatre, Elings Park Amphitheatre Santa Barbara, The S. Mark Taper Foundation Amphitheatre, U.C. Irvine, BATS in San Francisco, The Impro Theatre Studio and more. He created, produced and hosted the YouTube Podcast Impro Talk With Mike Rock, over 80 episodes of a live-streamed interview show with artists of all types. As a Teaching Artist for The Educational Theatre Association and The International Thespian Society for over 34 years, he has presented improv workshops at hundreds of high schools around the U.S. for tens of thousands of students, for which he received the EdTA President’s Award.
