Improvising Plays & Films

Service Description

Improvising Plays & Films (IPF) is one of Impro School’s advanced narrative improv classes. Like Narrative Workshop and the Impro LAB, this class has an ensemble feel and incorporates in depth genre work. With IPF there are no set runs of performances and there is no set end date. Guest artists of the Impro Theatre Main Company, students from the Impro LAB, and Impro’s advanced narrative students looking to hone their skills and receive the “tough love” required to leap to the next level of personal development will find a home in IPF. This class is as nurturing as it is challenging. The genre work within this class is chosen based on the strengths and weaknesses of the individuals in the class. Each night the improvisers are asked to challenge themselves, playing new characters, telling new stories, and practicing the techniques they’ve learned throughout the Impro School curriculum. When the instructor’s feel that a student is ready, an IPF student is offered a place in a 5-month long LAB where a select ensemble studies and rehearses a genre for a run of performances.
