Strat by creating grounded, three dimensional characters, discover the relationships between the characters and find the story by following who those characters are and what they want (and what they don't want.) Every style / genre that Impro Theatre performs and teaches, from Shakespeare to Jane Austen to Chekhov and everything else, is built upon the foundation of creating real characters and relationships. The story doesn't come from thinking or planning, the story is discovered by following your character's feelings and their relationships to those around them.
